An original French rise & fall ceiling light, a beautiful piece of period lighting dating probably from the 1930s, which we have re-wired and restored with an opaline milk glass coolie shade with a clear fused glass crimped edge.  The little ceramic pulleys inside the rose and the egg-shaped porcelain counterweight allow the shade to be raised and lowered easily, and these lights were often found over parlour tables in old French houses.  We have completely overhauled this piece, cleaning each original part and rewiring with new UK made twisted fabric flex in black.  Retracted, the light measures approx 61cm from the rose to the bottom of the shade.  Fully extended, the light descends down to approx 1.35cm, but you can alter this if you decide to extend or cut the flex. The shade measures approx 25cm diameter.  The counterweight is filled with cuts of lead strip, and not the original lead shot.  This ensures the flex will stay clean as it rolls through the counterweight.   The bulbholder is ceramic and takes a bayonet bulb.

We search France for these and similar pieces of beautiful pieces of period and vintage lighting, along with interesting decorative items for the home. Bookmark our store to see our latest finds!
