An original French rise & fall ceiling light, a beautiful piece of period lighting dating probably from the 1920s, which we have re-wired and restored with an opaline milk glass coolie shade with a pleated wavy and clear fused glass edge from the same period. The little ceramic pulleys and the counterweight allow the shade to be raised and lowered easily, and these lights were often found over parlour tables in old French houses. We have completely overhauled this piece, cleaning each original part and rewiring with new UK made twisted fabric flex in ivory. The porcelain parts are in a faceted off-white glazed china. Retracted, the light measures approx 66cm from the rose to the bottom of the shade. Fully extended, the light descends down to approx 1.35cm, but you can alter this if you decide to extend or cut the flex. The shade measures approx 23cm diameter. The counterweight is filled with its original lead shot. The bulbholder is ceramic and takes a bayonet bulb. (Please contact me if you are in the US or Canada and need to source bayonet style bulbs).
