An antique French glazed terracotta bowl with a beautiful feathered slipware decoration. Probably used as a saladier, or salad bowl, it probably dates from the early 1900s and is from the Savoie region near the Italian Alps in France. A stamp at the bottom reads Depos, which is a precursor for the later French Depose mark which began in 1900. For a very old item which would have been in daily use the condition is good, with no cracks or major chips and just some wear to the glaze on the rim. Measures approx 27cm (10 1/2") diameter and 9cm (3 1/2")high. The weight is 912g (2lb).
