Five heavy wooden pétanque balls sourced in France and a jack, probably dating from the mid to late 19th century. Each has a wonderful patina, and has clearly enjoyed lots of play. These boules were usually made from boxwood root, which is very dense, with the smaller and lighter jack in a kind of fruitwood, possibly olive. There are two slightly larger balls at approx 11cm round and weighing around 930g, and two smaller ones at 10cm and weighing approx 750g. The jack measures approx 7cm round and weighs 117g.
